County considers installing rumble strips on roads popular for speeding

County officials are looking at the feasibility of installing rumble strips on some local streets that are preferred by speeders.
The County and the sheriff’s office have received numerous complaints of speeding within certain neighborhoods around the county.
The sheriff’s department has attempted to stop the speeding, but have found that unless they park a deputy on the street 24 hours a day, the problem still exists.
The county won’t install speed bumps because of the potential damage that speed bumps can do to vehicles, but the rumble strips are an option they would like to look at more closely.

At this point the county attorney is investigating the legality of the strips and the county engineer will attend a future commission meeting to discuss the issue further.
