ABC School falls from an A to a C in recent school report card

School grades were released Friday and the Apalachicola Bay charter School saw its grade fall from an “A” to a “C”.
Grades for the Franklin County School have not yet been released.

The ABC school has historically been a top ranked school, it’s been ranked as an A school 8 times since 2005.
This was the first year that schools were graded under a new, tougher formula that reflects the more rigorous Florida Standards and the Florida Standards Assessment which replaced the FCAT standardized test.

The number of A-rated schools statewide fell from nearly 1200 last year to 741 this year.
The number of C-rated schools jumped from 880 to 1,246.
Port St. Joe Elementary School in Gulf County dropped from a B to a C grade this year.

Port St. Joe High School fell from an A to a B.

Wewahitchka elementary School moved up from a B to an A while Wewahitchka High School got a C grade for the second year in a row.

School grades have been issued since 1999.

High-performing schools and those that improve their school grade can receive additional funding, while struggling schools will receive extra help to improve.
