Franklin County ponytails softball team headed to World Series

The Franklin County Dixie Youth ponytails softball team will be heading to the World Series in a few weeks and need some help to get there.

The Team, which includes local 11 and 12 year old girls, won the state tournament in Okeechobee earlier this month and earned a spot at the World Series which will be held in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

The tournament will run from July31st through August 5th.

This will be an expensive trip; The county will provide 5000 dollars – but that won’t cover the expense.

The last trip to the world series cost nearly 20 thousand dollars.

The girls will be holding fund-raisers over the next few weeks, and any donations would be greatly appreciated.

The next fundraiser will be a fish fry this Saturday from 11 to 3 across the street from the Eastpoint Post Office.

They will be selling mullet plates for 7 dollars or whatever more you would like to donate.

Anyone who would like to make a cash donation should contact Kim Johnson.

She can be reached at 653-5518.
