The
Franklin county Tourist Development Council has agreed to provide 2000 dollar
grants to nearly 30 groups that hold events in Franklin County during the year.
29 groups were selected to receive money to help them fund
and advertise their events, which are generally held in the fall and winter.
The events include the Apalachicola Riverfront Film Festival
and the St. George Island chili cookoff as well as the Apalachicola Home and
Garden Tour and the Camp Gordon Johnston Days.
The annual Martin Luther King Day celebration will also
receive money as will the Ilse Newell Concert Series, the panhandle players,
and the Eastpoint Fire Department Rib cook-off among many others.
