County
commissioners have started the process of choosing a company to
provide debris removal services after a major storm.
Clean-up
after a storm is much quicker and easier if the county already has a
contract with a firm that specializes in that type of work.
The
board last week opened proposals from 6 companies interested in
providing debris removal services as well as two companies that would
provide debris monitoring services.
The
companies are from across the southeast including Texas, Alabama and
Louisiana.
The
proposals will be considered by a committee made up of
representatives of the Franklin county Emergency Management office
and other county officials.
The
committee will look at prices, as well as recommendations from other
counties.
The
committee will then make a recommendation to the county commission
for final action.
