Franklin County saw a huge spike in unemployment in April because of the COVID-19 pandemic

Like most of the rest of the country, Franklin County saw a huge spike in unemployment in April because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Over 10 percent of local workers were out of a job in April up from about 4 percent in March.

That's 425 people out of work, out of a workforce of 4,136.

Gulf County saw a similar jump in unemployment.

They went from 5.2 percent in March to 9.8 percent in April.

472 people were out of work in Gulf County in April.

Wakulla County unemployment doubled from 3.9 percent to 7.8 percent.


Liberty County unemployment jumped from 4.8 percent to 7 percent.
