Governor Ron DeSantis has
lifted restrictions on youth sports and summer camps.
The
executive order took effect on May the 22nd.
Its
says that organized youth activities may operate, including youth
sports teams and leagues, youth clubs and programs, and child care.
Summer
camps and youth recreation camps may also operate.
The
Governor said he wasn't planning on creating rules on how youth
activities should reopen saying he trusts parents to be able to make
decisions and do these activities in a way that is safe.
The
Department of Health will post some best practices for people to use
as guidelines when restarting youth sports teams.
Those
will likely include social distancing guidelines from the Centers for
Disease Control and prevention regarding 6 feet of separation and use
of facial coverings in some situations.
DeSantis
said it is time to reopen activities for kids after they’ve been
locked down since mid-March when the country shut down because of the
COVID-19 pandemic.
