Networking Luncheon

Many thanks to Wakulla Environmental Institute for hosting our luncheon this month, catered by Zaxby’s.
General manager, Tim Lawton, is very customer service oriented and a pleasure to work with! Zaxby’s in Crawfordville gives back to its community and surpassed their goal this past year despite COVID and donated over $10K to local causes. Zaxby’s is looking to add staff to their crew, so if you know of someone looking for a job, send them their way. Wages at Zaxby’s recently increased and start out at $10 without experience, higher if you have a background in the fast-food industry.
Our new members for this month were announced as Ricky Harper with C12 Tallahassee, a group of Christian business executives meeting monthly to develop and grow their business expertise and challenge each other. Ricky owns the franchise throughout the Florida panhandle.
Our second new business is Revel Tractor Worx and Land Services. Jason’s services include stump and brush removal, large pasture mowing, excavator work and mulching fence lines and more. Check him out on Facebook.
Josh Brown introduced his guest, Head Coach and Athletic Director for Riversprings Middle School, Coach Klees. COVID has been rough on all of us, and schools and their programs did not get spared either. For one, postponed or cancelled games cut revenue coming in which means that sports equipment in need of replacement has no funding. Coach Klees made a presentation to our business community, asking to invest in Riversprings Middle School programs by purchasing a sign placed on the school fence. A huge shout-out to Paulina Pendarvis with North Florida Medical Centers who committed to the first purchase of two signs, challenging others attending to follow suit and we did not have to wait but a second for Waypoint Properties, AAA Auto Club, and Shepard Accounting & Tax Service committing to support and purchase their signs. If you would like to support Riversprings Middle School Academics, Athletics, and the Arts, consider purchasing a sign. Sponsor form download or call Jessica Allen 850.926.2300 for more information. You can also contact coach Klees directly at 850 508 3302.
Longtime member Karen Ellis with BNI NW Florida introduced Julian Griffin, Regional Launch Director, who has had some contact from interested businesses in starting a BNI chapter in Wakulla. You can reach Julian at 850.518.0504 or email julianlakegriffin@gmail.com. Their first meeting will take place October 21.
Jeanie Booth was excited to share workforce update; just a month ago we had over 400 local jobs to fill, and that number is now down to 297. There are still plenty available positions, but it is good to see people getting back to work! Jeanie also reminded local employers that CareerSource Capital Region has grant funds available to pay for internships and training of new workforce. If you would like to sign up as a host business, contact Jeanie at the local career center or email jeanie.booth@careersourcecapitalregion.com
Speaking of jobs, North Florida Medical Center just hired a new nurse practitioner for Wakulla Medical office in Panacea, but still has openings for 3 LPN positions.
The $43 cash drawing was won by Doug Gove who graciously donated the money to Paws of Wakulla.
Even though we had a smaller crowd today, we still had 21 drawing prizes donated by: TCC/Wakulla Environmental Institute, Petra Shuff, Cook Insurance Agency, Southeastern Therapy Services, Big Bend Hospice, Jeanie Booth, Shepard Accounting & Tax Service, Revel Electric & Automated Access Systems, Barn’s Liquors, The Wakulla News, Harvest Printing, Zaxby’s, Sand & Soul Designs, and Smith Thompson, P.A. Thank you for your contribution to the drawing!
