Franklin County commissioners have approved the purchase of new ADA compliant voting equipment for the Franklin County Supervisor of Elections office

Franklin County commissioners have approved the purchase of new ADA compliant voting equipment for the Franklin County Supervisor of Elections office.

The total cost for the voting machines is 35,500 dollars.

That will purchase 10 machines which will be used in every precinct in the county as well as for early voting.

The voting machines are easy to use and small enough to put on a table or desk so they are easiy accessible to people with disabilities.

During this year's budget process, the Supervisor of Election included a request for ADA voting equipment as an urgent need within one year on the capital improvements schedule for her office.

The ADA compliant equipment must be in place in 2022.

Because this was such a large capital outlay item, the county commission agreed to purchase the equipment outright from the capital outlay fund instead of increasing the annual budget allocation to the Supervisor’s Office for the equipment.
