Franklin county will soon lose a long serving county employee

Franklin county will soon lose a long serving county employee.

Mr. Mark Curenton, who has worked in the Franklin County Planning and Zoning office for over 34 years has announced that he will retire at the end of this month.

Mark currently serves as county planner.

The County says it will have a very hard time replacing Mr. Curenton, especially with his institutional knowledge.

County staff are working on interim solutions to cover Mr. Curenton’s duties.

County staff has found a consultant who will be able to assume the responsibility of Department of Transportation grants immediately, and said they are working on a contract with the Apalachee Regional Planning council to provide a planning consultant who should be able to cover many of Mark’s other responsibilities.

Commissioners said they will hold a farewell ceremony for Mark at their next commission meeting to thank him for his years of dedicated service.
