Ambitious Living Shoreline Project Combats Coastal Land Loss in South Carolina

With $6.8 million from NOAA, our partners at The Nature Conservancy will build a 2,000-foot-long living shoreline near Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort. The organization will also help low-income landowners implement living shorelines on their properties.

Department of Commerce Announces 2024 Appointments to the Regional Fishery Management Councils

The Department of Commerce announced the appointment of 22 new and returning members to six of the regional fishery management councils. Appointments to the Pacific and North Pacific councils will be announced later this summer.

Comment Period Extended for Revised Ecosystem-Based Fisheries Management Road Map

NOAA Fisheries has extended the comment period for the updated Ecosystem-Based Fisheries Management Road Map. The road map identifies the actions NOAA Fisheries will take to advance ecosystem-based fisheries management. The public comment period is now open until August 31, 2024.

NOAA Fisheries and the U.S. Department of Agriculture celebrated the opening of the new Northeast Oyster Breeding Center in Milford, Connecticut. Scientists aim to breed disease-resistant oysters in the face of current and changing environmental conditions in the Northeast.
