The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of a new phone scam being reported in the area.
The Sheriff’s Department said there is a company calling people and businesses requesting donations for advertisements to be published on magnets for the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
The caller might even use a sheriff’s office employee’s name as part of their sales pitch.
This is NOT the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office requesting or receiving donations.
If you get a call like this, it is most likely a scam.
If you ever feel pressured to pay/donate over the phone, that should be a red flag.
The best thing to do is hang up the phone and report it to the Sheriff’s Office at 850-670-8500.
