The speed limit has been lowered on a section of Highway 98 in the eastern end of Franklin County.

The Florida Department of Transportation recently lowered the speed limit from 55 miles an hour to 45 miles an hour on the section of Highway 98 approaching the intersection of US 319.

Its the section of Highway where Highway 98 splits toward Alligator Point, while 319 heads toward Sopchoppy.

The speed limit will drop for 808 feet starting about 600 feet west of the Summer Camp Sales Center and ending at the intersection.

That section of highway was recently resurfaced, and the lower speed limit was approved after an engineering report recommended it.
