The Apalachicola National Forest is taking applications for its 4th Annual Kid’s Fishing Derby. The event is held at Buttermilk Pond in Liberty County; it is free and open to the public. The fishing derby will be held on May 1st from 8 a.m. to noon; all children from 1 to 16 years old can take part. In addition to fishing, the day’s events include a net casting contest and lunch. You can register your children for the fishing derby through April 30th or volunteer some of your time for the event by calling the Wakulla Ranger District in Crawfordville at 926-3561.
