Free fishing clinic for kids in Panacea on Saturday

There will be a free fishing clinic for kids in Panacea on Saturday.

The clinic is for kids between 4 and 16 and is designed to teach them about environmental issues, fishing ethics, fishing skills and safety. In addition, a number of environmental displays and touch tanks will be set up to let the kids experience Florida’s marine life firsthand.

The clinic is free and there is no pre-registration needed. All you have to do is take your kids to Wooley Park in Panacea on Saturday beginning at 11 AM.

The clinic has been held in Panacea for a number of years and has helped hundreds of area children learn a love of fishing.

If your child already has fishing equipment you should bring that with you, and if not – there will be equipment and bait at the clinic they can use. Some kids will even get a free rod after they complete the clinic.

The clinic is being sponsored by the Fish and wildlife commission, the St. Marks Refuge, and the Florida Foundation for Responsible Angling.
