Governor Crist approves back to school sales tax holiday

Governor Charlie Crist today signed House Bill 483, which reinstates the popular Back to School Sales Tax Holiday in Florida.

The three day sales-tax holiday will take place this year from August 13th through the 15th.

Floridians will be able buy school supplies, books, clothing, and footwear without paying the state sales tax which is expected to save Florida families $26 million dollars. During the sales tax holiday, Floridians will not pay sales tax on books, clothing and footwear that cost $50 or less, as well as school supplies that cost $10 or less.

This is the first time the state has offered the back to school sales tax holiday since 2007.
