Easrly voting begins today

Early voting begins today for the August 24th elections.

Early voting has been allowed for a few years and has proved to be very popular because it saves voters from standing in long lines on Election Day.

For people who want to cast their ballots in local or statewide elections, you can early vote at the Election offices at 47 Avenue E in Apalachicola and at 1647 Highway 98 East in Carrabelle.

The locations should be open for early voting from 8:30 to 4:30 Monday through Saturday through August the 21st.

There are very few local races on the ballot though voters in District 4 will vote for a county commissioner.

The choice is between commission chairman Smokey Parrish and Apalachicola resident Charles Wilson.

District 2 voters will vote for a school board representative between incumbent David Hinton and Carrabelle resident Wilburn Ray Messer.

There will also be Democratic and Republican primary elections for US Senator, US representative, governor, and attorney general.

Democrats will also vote in the primary for state Senator.

You should have had a sample ballot mailed to your home, but if you don’t have one you can pick one up at the Supervisor of elections office.

Absentee ballots are also available to voters. You can request an absentee ballot by phone or in person at the Supervisor of Elections office in Apalachicola.
