Franklin County will once again be recognized during Florida Monthly magazine’s best of Florida issue which comes out in September.
The Best of Florida Awards are chosen annually by the magazine’s readers and this year Franklin County will be recognized in 4 categories including 2nd place for "The St. George Lighthouse" for "Best Historical Landmark" and 2nd place for "St. George Island "for "Best Place to bring Fido".
Last year Franklin County was recognized for the best outdoor café’ which was the Blue Parrot Oceanfront café on St. George Island.
The best beach in the state was the St. George Island State Park, The Coombs House Inn in Apalachicola was chosen the best Bed and Breakfast, and the Cape St. George lighthouse was voted the Best historic landmark and the best looking lighthouse.
St. George Island also made the list as the best place to bring your dogs and Apalachicola was voted the friendliest small town.
All 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place winners will be announced in the September issue of Florida Monthly and will be listed until August 2011 at floridamagazine.com.
