Franklin County TDC seeks local businesses to join Natural Florida Getaways program

The Franklin County Tourist Development Council is encouraging local businesses to take part in a new promotion designed to boost tourism in this area during the off-season.

This fall, the TDC will join Visit Florida in promoting the first in what it hopes will be a continuing series of Franklin County-based Natural Florida Getaways at each of the five State Welcome Centers.

The first promotional campaign is scheduled to run September through October at each State Welcome Center and Visit Florida says it is expected to be seen by an estimated 300,000 visitors during the two months.

The first Getaway campaign will feature St. George Island; Additional campaigns are being developed for Apalachicola, Carrabelle and Alligator Point.

If you are a Franklin County lodging provider, restaurant or tourism-related business such as fishing charter, eco-tour or kayak rental you can take part in the promotion by donating lodging, meals and activities.

In return, your business name will be displayed in the campaign materials at each welcome center.

The TDC is currently accepting lodging donations of 2-3 nights from accommodations on or near the beach, 1 meal donation from an area restaurant and one coupon for a getaway vacation activity.

If you want to take part you do have to hurry; the deadline to submit your lodging, meal or activity donation is August 3.

To take part you should either call the TDC office at 653-8678, or email info@anaturalescape.com with a brief explanation of what your business can donate.

A drawing will be held August the 6th to select the accommodation and restaurant activity for the first Natural Florida Getaway.
