Apalachicola man arrested for bank robbery

An Apalachicola man was one of three people arrested Monday after robbing a bank in Port St. Joe.
19 year old Deshaun Winfield of Apalachicola along with 20 year old Ricardo Clemens and 18 year old Jaylen Pittman were arrested just minutes after robbing the Vision Bank branch on Cecil G. Costin Boulevard.
According to police, the men entered the bank through the backdoor just before 8:30 as bank workers were entering the building.
A neighbor reported the robbery almost immediately after hearing gunshots – no one was injured during the robbery.
The guns were fired outside the bank building.
The robbers didn’t get far.
Gulf county deputies managed to catch the three men within half an hour.
They also didn’t get much in the robbery – just a few hundred dollars in coins.
Police recovered all of the money as well as the guns used in the crime.
All three men are now being charged with armed robbery and could face additional charges as the investigation continues.
