If you have not yet gotten your flu shot this year – don’t forget the immunizations are available at local doctors offices and at the local health department.
Flu shots are especially important to groups which have the greatest chance of suffering complications from the disease including children and people over the age of 65, as well as pregnant women, health care professionals, and people in long term care facilities.
Health officials recommend that all people be immunized against the flu bug every year, because the virus is constantly mutating.
If you’d like more information about the flu vaccinations, you can call the Franklin County health department in Apalachicola at 653 -2111.
The health department offers flu shots at a cost of 25 dollars for people without Medicare.
If you have Medicare – it covers the full cost of the vaccination.
