Support small businesses on Saturday

The Friday after Thanksgiving is one of the busiest shopping days of the year and many people use the day to shop at Big name stores, but Saturday is a time for visiting your locally owned stores.

Saturday, November 30th is Small Business Saturday, a day that is dedicated to supporting the small businesses that anchor our local communities and strengthen our economy.

Small Business Saturday is a nation-wide initiative that brings Americans together to support small businesses, with the money you spend going right back into your local economy.

America’s 28 million small businesses create two out of every three net new private sector jobs and are the backbone of our economy, with half of working Americans either owning or working for a small business.

Last year, nearly 70 million people shopped small in their communities for an estimated $5.5 billion in sales to independently-owned small businesses.

Local businesses will be celebrating – many stores in Apalachicola will be open till 6 Pm on Saturday and Santa will be in town from 1 till 3 to take pictures with your pets.

There will even be a pet costume contest at 3 PM.
