Local unemployment fell slightly in August

Unemployment in Franklin County fell slightly in August.

Local unemployment dropped from 4.4 percent to 4.3 percent last month – giving Franklin County the third lowest unemployment rate out of Florida’s 67 counties.

Labor statistics released last week show 212 people were looking for work in Franklin County in August; 2 fewer than in July.

The workforce also increased by 29 people.

Gulf County unemployment also fell slightly from 5.1 to 4.9 percent.

313 people were looking for work in Gulf County last month.

Unemployment in Wakulla County fell to 4.7 percent, in Liberty county unemployment fell to 5.7 percent.
