DEP'S NORTHWEST DISTRICT ANNOUNCES NEW ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP AWARDS PROGRAM

PENSACOLA, Fla. – In support of DEP’s vision of creating strong community partnerships, safeguarding Florida’s natural resources and enhancing its ecosystems, DEP’s Northwest District Office has developed a new Environmental Stewardship Awards Program to recognize those who are working alongside DEP to safeguard Florida’s natural resources and enhance its ecosystems.
The program recognizes businesses, professional and community organizations, and local governments within DEP's Northwest District for proactive, innovative and exceptional achievements to reduce impacts on the environment beyond measures required by permit or rule. To be considered for recognition, participants must demonstrate significant and measurable achievements that provide a direct benefit to our environment in one or more of the following categories:
- Reducing environmental impacts
- Conserving resources
- Enhancing ecosystems
- Restoring impacts
Other criteria that will be considered include organizational or community involvement, continuous improvement, and community education and outreach.
To nominate an organization, or to be considered for recognition, please provide a detailed summary of the environmental stewardship efforts, including the criteria outlined above, by close of business Friday, Nov. 18. Submissions can be made by mail to the Northwest District Office or by email. Please review the program rules and instructions for details on how to apply.
Winners will be recognized Dec. 13 during the Northwest District Office Open House.
