County commissioners will hold a public hearing Tuesday to once again consider a rule that will ban peddlers from operating on St. George Island. The county has been discussing the issue for months, but may now have a rule they can agree to. At a previous meeting the board said it wants to make sure that peddlers are only banned from St. George Island, and even then they want to make sure that certain local peddlers are grandfathered in. The ban is being considered at the request of St. George Island business owners who have complained that peddlers take their business without facing the expenses that permanent businesses do. The county on Tuesday will also get an update on the Eastpoint Medical Clinic and meet with the Division of Forestry to discuss forest related issues. The county commission will meet at 9 o’clock tomorrow morning – the commission meets at the Courthouse Annex in Apalachicola.
