The National Weather Service Tallahassee has issued a Flood Warning for the Apalachicola River near Blountstown affecting Calhoun, Franklin and Gulf and Liberty counties. The river is currently just above 19 feet and is expected to remain at that level into next week. Flood Stage is 15 feet. The rising river levels are being caused by heavy rains to the north brought on by the remnants of Tropical Storm Ida. It’s possible that some minor flooding could occur along the riverbanks so residents are asked to be extremely vigilant during the next couple of days as the water flows down the river into Franklin County. People with interests along the river should monitor the latest forecasts and be prepared to take necessary precautions to protect life and property. Do Not Drive Cars or walk through Flooded Areas.
