The Camp Gordon Johnston World War 2 Museum in Carrabelle is being featured in the October issue of Military Officer Magazine.
The magazine has a worldwide circulation of about 350,000, and the October issue has a three-page article about Camp Gordon Johnston and the historical preservation efforts of the Camp Gordon Johnston Association.
The article discusses the extent and size of Camp Gordon Johnston while surviving veterans from all over the U.S. talk of their training experiences while stationed at the camp.
It even manages to slip in talk about other areas of Franklin County including the restored lighthouse at St. George Island, the Wildlife Sanctuaries, Kayaking, Camping, Fishing and, of course, the shops and restaurants of our area.
The article came about as part of the local Tourist Development Council’s efforts at promoting tourism in our area.

The article is on pages 68-70 and there is even a short video taken by the U.S. Army Signal Corps showing actual training at the Camp.
