2 men rescued from sinking boat near Cape San Blas

The U.S. Coast Guard rescued two men from a 46-foot fishing vessel, Friday, after their vessel ran aground and began taking on water two miles south of Cape San Blas.
The two men rescued were Hung Ho and Hien Ban Lao who were working off the fishing vessel the Lady Jean.
The two issued a mayday call at about 4 o’clock Friday stating that their vessel was taking on water.
The Coast Guard sent out an Ocean Sentry aircraft from Mobile which found the boat just before 6 o’clock; The aircraft crew dropped a pump down for them to dewater.
A 45-foot response boat from Panama City reached the boat by 7 a.m., located the fishermen and returned them safely to shore.
The men had no medical concerns.
The Coast Guard recommends boaters have a VHF-FM marine-band radio on board their vessel.
Marine-band radios are more reliable then cell phones while on the water, since cell phones have limited battery life and gaps in coverage.
