County commissioners are looking for property in Eastpoint where they might be able to build a children’s playground.
The board decided Tuesday to talk to attorney Ben Watkins about the issue to see if he would be willing to donate some land somewhere near the center of town.
Mister Watkins is a large landowner in the Eastpoint area, and Commissioner Bevin Putnal felt he might be willing to work with the county.
If not then the county might have to look for a grant to buy land.
Franklin County already has two playgrounds in Eastpoint, one on the eastern end of town at Vrooman Park and a smaller one on the western end of town at Indian Creek Park.
The commissioners said they would like to have one closer to the center of town because that’s where most of the children live – and as they pointed out there are a lot of kids in Eastpoint.
