County Commissioners are looking at ways to continue to televise their meetings once Forgotten Coast TV is taken off the Mediacom cable lineup at the end of December.
Mediacom plans to remove the Forgotten Coast TV from its line-up on December 31st, though the station will still be broadcast over St. George Island cable and over the internet.
Forgotten Coast TV has rebroadcast county commission meetings as part of their agreement to operate the public access channel, something that has proved very popular with Franklin County residents.
Forgotten Coast TV owner Johns Spohrer told county commissioners Tuesday that he will continue to broadcast the meetings over St. George Island cable and over the internet which he feels will allow even more people to see it since it will then be accessible world-wide.
County commissioners, however, said there will be a large group of Franklin County people who will not be able to watch the meetings on-line because they don’t have internet access.
Commissioners say they want to investigate how the county can continue to broadcast its meetings over the television and have asked their attorney to investigate the legalities of doing so.
