Local graduation rates drop slightly as does dropout rate

Franklin County saw its graduation rate fall a little last year, but on a brighter note its dropout rate also fell substantially.
Franklin County’s graduation rate for the 2009-2010 school year was 81.6 percent.
That’s down from 86 percent during the 2008-2009 school year but still much better than 2005 through 2008 when the graduation rate hovered between 56 and 61 percent.
It’s also better than the state graduation of 79 percent this year.
Franklin County’s dropout rate fell to less than 1 percent last year.
The official dropout rate was .3 percent – that’s down from over 5 percent the year before and from over 13 percent in the 2005-2006 school year.
Gulf County’s graduation rate last year was 96.2 percent, the dropout rate was .3 percent
In Wakulla County the graduation rate was 84.9 percent; the dropout rate was 3.4 percent.
