County officials have agreed to apply for a community health needs assessment from the National Association of counties to see how resident’s views of Franklin County’s health care system has changed over the past few years.
The Association will help three counties with the health survey – if Franklin County is chosen it will work with National Center for Rural Health Works consultants to find out what type of medical services are still needed in Franklin County and the issues that are keeping us getting the services we need.
They will also look at the economic impact of the local health care sector and look at ways the health care system can better meet community needs
The assessment will be done through conference calls and community meetings.
A similar assessment was done in 2006, but in that time the county has passed a one cent sales tax for health care, taken control of the local hospital and built a new medical clinic in Carrabelle.
This study would be a good way for them to see if there have been any improvements in the community’s view of local health care.
