Franklin County is expanding its recycling program a little with the help of a private resident and a beer company.
County Commissioner Pinki Jackel last week recognized St. George Island residents Ada Long who was able to get the Anheuser Busch group to donate recycling bins that will be placed at 17 boardwalks on St. George Island.
The recycling containers will be placed next to the existing garbage cans and will be emptied by Franklin County’s solid waste department.
Commissioner Jackel said she hopes the containers will spur people to recycle more.
Commissioner Jackel said she now hopes to get Anheuser Busch to donate more of the containers so they can be placed at other locations around the county.
The county commission voted to support commissioner Jackel in her endeavor.
