Franklin County unemployment remains at 7.7 percent in May


Unemployment in Franklin County remained stable in May at 7.7 percent.

416 people were looking for work last month; that’s 2 more than in April.

Neighboring counties also saw little change in their unemployment rates last month.

In Gulf County the unemployment rate fell from 9.9 percent to 9.8 percent with 630 people looking for work in May.

Liberty County’s unemployment stayed at 6.5 percent and Wakulla County’s unemployment ticked up from 7.6 percent to 7.7 percent.

Over 1300 people were looking for work in Wakulla County last month.

Statewide, the unemployment rate continued to fall for the 5th month in a row.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell from 10.8 percent in April to 10.6 percent in May.
