Water Management District adopts 27.8 million dollar budget

The Northwest Florida Water Management District Governing Board on Friday adopted a $27.8 million budget for the new Fiscal Year.

That means property owners will pay 40 cents for every $1,000 in assessed property value which will produce an estimated $3.3 million in revenue for the upcoming fiscal year.
The adopted budget includes funding for a number of important projects including 1.5 million dollars for protecting a number of natural springs, 3.6 million dollars for wetland restoration, and 2.3 million dollar for watershed protection.
The watershed protection funding will go toward for stormwater retrofits, water quality improvements and habitat restoration in the Apalachicola River and Bay, St. Andrews Bay and St. Marks River watersheds.
