Members still needed for County RESTORE council

Franklin county commissioners say it will be two more weeks before the full membership of the local RESTORE council is complete.
The RESTORE council will consider projects proposed for funding through any money Franklin County receives from fines levied on BP because of the 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
Their recommendations would go to the county commission for final approval before being sent to the federal government for funding.
Earlier this month the board approved a 13 member council which includes one member each named by the cities of Carrabelle and Apalachicola, a school board representative and a representative from the Tourist development Council.
It also includes a member named by the seafood workers association, the seafood dealers association, the realtors association, and a member to represent environmental groups in the county.
Each county commissioner will also name a member from his or her district.
At this point, the council still needs a member from Apalachicola and Carrabelle, and a member from Commissioners Cheryl Sanders and Smokey Parrish’s districts.
The county is also considering how to bring alternates onto the board.
Commissioners said they hope to have the full list of names for the council by their first meeting in February and hope the council will begin meeting very soon after that.
