The Florida Department of Education
has released FCAT writing scored for Florida ’s
4th and 8th and 10th graders and overall our students showed
some improvement in their writing scores.
Results posted at the Department of Education website show
that 46 percent of Franklin County 4th graders scored a three and a
half or higher on the writing portion of the test, up from 37 percent last
year.
At the Franklin
county school 47 percent of 4th graders scored a passing grade, at
the ABC school it was 44 percent.
34 percent of Franklin
County 8th graders
scored a 3.5 or higher on the writing section up from 30 percent last year.
50 percent of 8th graders at the ABC
School met the minimum standard in
writing, 24 percent did so at the Franklin
county school.
36 percent of 10th graders got a passing grade on
the writing section of the FCAT – up from 32 percent the year before.
