You may not have known it but Tuesday was “Dixie Phonics” Day.
Franklin County Commissioners agreed Tuesday to
sign a proclamation recognizing July 2nd as “Dixie Phonics’ Day.
The action was taken at the request of Herbert J.
“Kuntry” Carter; the proclamation also commends Mr. Carter for elevating and
developing this distinct musical style.
Carter is a 72 year old country singer out of Leon county; he created Dixie Phonics as a way to give the north Florida and South Georgia its own sound.
Its shares a lot with musical styles like Cajun, Texas swing and bluegrass.
Mister Carter hopes to get every county in the Florida Panhandle to sign the proclamation.
