HCOLA celebrating African American History with weekend festival

The Hillside Coalition Of Laborers for Apalachicola will hold its 11th Annual African-American History Festival this weekend at Franklin Square in Apalachicola.

The event kicks off at 9 tonight with a 70’s throwback party at the recreation Center.

Saturday is the big day of the event.

It begins with a parade at 10 AM from the old Apalachicola High School heading south to 6th street and then ending at the festival grounds.

Saturday’s festival includes a basketball tournament, an ethnic fashion show, and headline entertainment Sharper 5 and Company who will perform beginning at 6PM.

There will also be plenty of arts and crafts, food booths and activities for the kids.

On Sunday the festival concludes with an outdoor worship at noon – the festival will officially close at 4 Pm Sunday.
