I am deeply saddened by the loss of Deputy Jonathan Scott Pine of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Pine lost his life on Tuesday, February 11, 2014, when he was fatally shot while responding to a burglary. The death of Deputy Pine is a solemn reminder of the risks that law enforcement officers across Florida take to ensure the safety of all Florida citizens. In honor of Deputy Pine, I hereby direct the flags of the United States and the State of Florida to be flown at half-staff at all local and state buildings, installations, and grounds throughout Orange County, Florida, and the municipalities within, from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, February 15, 2014.
