Franklin County commission gives site plan approval for commercial dock in Eastpoint

Franklin county commissioners have given site plan approval for a ten slip commercial dock on the Eastpoint waterfront.

The request was made by a company called Steve’s dockside which plans to build the commercial dock at 530 Highway 98 in Eastpoint.

The proposed development would also include a landing area, a building with restrooms and an office and parking for at least 15 vehicles.

This is the second time the commission has considered the dock – it was rejected a number of months ago because the property is zoned c-1 which is for commercial seafood and the developers were seeking a special exception that could have allowed the dock to be used by houseboats and recreational fishermen.

The company has now limited the use to only commercial boats, so the commission approved the site plan unanimously.
