WCSO locates fugitive hiding in vehicle

Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office deputies located a man wanted for a Riviera Beach car-jacking hiding inside a vehicle that was stalled on U.S. Highway 98 just inside Wakulla near the Jefferson County line Saturday, April 4, according to Sheriff Charlie Creel.
Walter Snell III, 22, of West Palm Beach was arrested for grand theft of an automobile and possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana. He was transported to the Wakulla County Jail where he is being held to face additional charges from the Riviera Beach Police Department.

The WCSO Dispatch received a call from a citizen about a vehicle abandoned in the westbound lane of U.S. Highway 98 at approximately 5 a.m. WCSO deputies, Florida Highway Patrol troopers and a Jefferson County deputy arrived on scene.
The vehicle was locked and law enforcement officials began an inventory of items inside the vehicle while looking through the windows. After being on the scene for 30 minutes deputies heard the vehicle remote lock deploy and discovered some condensation on a window near the trunk of the Chevrolet Sonic.
Once law enforcement officials observed the condensation, the decision was made to break a small window and pull part of the back seat down. Deputies observed a male subject hiding in the trunk. The subject exited the vehicle and was taken into custody. The keys were located in the trunk. A gram of marijuana was also located inside the vehicle. No weapons were located.
Major Trey Morrison, Deputy Ashton Lesane, Deputy Ward Kromer, Detective Clint Beam, Lt. Sherrell Morrison and the Florida Highway Patrol investigated.
