The
Franklin County RESTORE Council will hold its first meeting this afternoon in
Apalachicola.
The
RESTORE council is a 7 member board that was created to consider projects
proposed for funding through any money Franklin County receives from fines
levied on BP because of the 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
There
could be millions of dollars coming to Franklin County trough the fund.
The
RESTORE Council is made up of representatives from a number of interests
including tourism and seafood.
5
of the members were named by the county commission – the cities of Apalachicola
and Carrabelle named one member each.
The City of Apalachicola named Mayor Van Johnson to serve on the council.
Carrabelle is being represented by its Mayor, Brenda La Paz.
The County named members include Lynn Martina who will fill the tourism
seat and Otis Amison will represent fisheries.
Rose
Mccoy will fill the economic development seat and Erik Lovestrand will
represent environmental issues.
The
county still needs to name someone to the non-governmental seat.
The
first organizational meeting of the RESTORE Council will be held this afternoon
at 5 PM at the Franklin County courthouse Annex in Apalachicola.
