The
Gulf of Mexico shrimp harvest was unusually high in April.
NOAA
Fisheries said 4.2 million pounds of shrimp were landed in the Gulf
of Mexico in April.
That's
the second-highest total for any April over the last sixteen years.
The
historic average for the month is about 2.5 million pounds.
Overall
about 11.8 million pounds of shrimp have been harvested from the Gulf
of Mexico this year – about 2 and a half percent below average.
