Bay Scallop Season
The 2018 scallop season will be open August 17 to September 30, 2018. This season opening includes all state waters (shore to 9 nautical miles) from the Mexico Beach Canal in Bay County through the westernmost point of St. Vincent Island in Franklin County. All other regulations apply, including a daily bag limit of 2 gallons of whole bay scallops in shell or 1 pint of bay scallop meat per person, with a maximum of 10 gallons of whole bay scallops in shell or 1/2 gallon bay scallop meat per vessel.

15th Annual Kingfish in Carrabelle
August 3rd - 5th - This three-day weekend event gives everyone an opportunity to enjoy themselves while advocating a wonderful cause that helps so many. Join us and be sure to weigh in your biggest fish for big prizes.
All proceeds go to the Leukemia Research Foundation. Over $915,000 raised in the past 14 years.

49th Annual Wausau Fun Day & Possum Festival
August 4th - Great Family Fun All Day Long! Beginning with a pancake breakfast at 7AM and the annual ‘Possum Trot’ 5k Run, locals and visitors alike enjoy a full day of festivities, including the annual Possum Parade, Possum Auction. and culminating at 8PM with an old-fashioned square dance.

St George Island's Sizzler 5K Race and One Mile Fun Run
August 4th - The Sizzler has been an annual event sponsored by a number of organizations to benefit our senior citizens throughout Franklin County. This year’s race registration and awards presentations will be held at Doc Myer’s Island Pub and Sports Bar, 36 West Pine Avenue, St George Island. Registration begins at 4 pm. Enjoy us for the post race party - Chicken Wraps, Chips and Goodies. There will be live music from 4 pm to close. 35th Anniversary National Night Out
August 7th - This annual event is held throughout the US and aims to enhance the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement.

22nd Annual Mexico Beach Artificial Reef Association Kingfish Tournament
August 24th - 25th: Come participate or cheer on the participants. This is a charitable event to build artificial reefs. Captain’s Party Friday, August 24th, from 5-9pm CSTat Beacon Hill Park. Tournament fishing is Saturday, August 25th, from 5 am to 5 pm CST and fish will be weighed at the Mexico Beach Marina from 1-5 pm CST. The tournament is a family event and gives family and friends a chance to come and have fellowship with one another while at the same time supporting a worthwhile cause to build marine habitat in the Gulf of Mexico. www.mexicobeach.com
Cape St George Island Lighthouse Climb
