The annual St. George Island brewfest has a new home

The annual St. George Island brewfest has a new home.

Franklin County commissioners voted this month to allow the fundraiser to permanently move from Paddy's Raw Bar on St. George Island to the St. George Island public beach parking area where the chili cookoff is held every year.

The SGI Brewfest is a one day beer tasting and music festival and the primary fundraiser for the Franklin County Humane Society.

It was first held in 2016 but has grown quickly and is now too large for its current location.

The change in location will allow for more community involvement including a food court area where local restaurants can set up tents or mobile vending trucks to sell food to our attendees.

Usually, the event is held in late April, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year's event is Saturday October 3rd.
