NOAA Names Jennifer Quan to Lead Fisheries’ West Coast Region

NOAA Fisheries is pleased to announce Ms. Jennifer Quan as the new Regional Administrator for NOAA Fisheries’ West Coast Region. She brings more than 27 years of experience working on Pacific Northwest natural resource conservation issues.

Rehabilitated Hawaiian Monk Seals Return to Kuaihelani

Three endangered Hawaiian monk seals are back in the wild at Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument, thanks to a partnership between NOAA Fisheries, The Marine Mammal Center, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The rehabilitated seals have a new chance to thrive at Kuaihelani (Midway Atoll). You can also view a photo gallery of the monk seals being released!

New Report Paves Way for a Northeast Fisheries and Offshore Wind Science Agenda

A final peer-reviewed report synthesizing the current state of science on the interactions between fisheries and offshore wind is now available online. The report is one component of a collaborative project, which enhanced the understanding of existing science and data gaps related to offshore wind interactions with fish and fisheries. Next steps include workshops on floating offshore wind technologies.
