Jay jay is a 9 month old, female, Walker Hound/Boxer mix. She is a happy and energetic youngster who we are told loves to sing. She is particularly fond of Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande. Jay Jay is housebroken, loves toys and loves to run so will need plenty of outdoor space. Looking for an exercise buddy? She might be the one for you!

We are always looking for people willing to bring one of our animals into their home to be fostered for various needs.

Any time you can spare would be greatly appreciated.

Call Karen at 670-8417 for more details or visit the Franklin County Humane Society at 244 State Road 65 in Eastpoint. You may logon to the website at www.forgottenpets.org to see more of our adoptable pets.

Franklin County is starting its annual budget process.

Franklin County is starting its annual budget process.
The board agreed last week to send budget letters to all county departments and constitutional offices telling them to prepare and submit their proposed budgets for the next fiscal year.
The letter requests that all budget requests be kept to the minimum needed so that departments can operate while still providing the same level of services.
Commissioners are concerned that the budget process will be faced with uncertainty over the long-term financial impacts of supply chain delays and inflation.
The county will also have to fund the second year of the 5 year county-wide pay plan that took effect last year.
Departments with long term capital improvement needs in excess of $15,000 are being asked to outline those needs separately from the budget request.
Budget proposals have to submitted to the county by June the 15th.

The Franklin County Commission plans to hold a workshop in the near future to discuss the process of adopting private roads

The Franklin County Commission plans to hold a workshop in the near future to discuss the process of adopting private roads.

The issue was raised by District 5 Commissioner Jessica Ward who said she has been approached by constituents on a number of occasions asking about the county taking over their roads.

She said it would be a good idea to let people discuss the issue with the county commission and for commissioners to know the process for adopting privately owned roads.

The issue was raised a number of years ago, and the commission was informed that not only can they not work on privately owned roads but the county is limited on which roads it can adopt – since a road has to be brought up to county standards before the county can accept it.

The workshop was approved unanimously and will be scheduled for an upcoming county commission meeting.

Exploring the themes and techniques of fiber art, our Fantastic Fibers Show/Exhibit celebrates the heritage of the past as well as all the ways artists of today are taking these age-old art forms to a new level.

What is Fiber Art?

Fiber art is an art that incorporates natural or man-made fibrous materials which can be made into art. This may include but is not limited to wall hangings, tapestries, and objects that are braided, coiled, knotted, knitted, twined, or wrapped. Fabrics are also fiber, some are hand-dyed and manipulated into works of art, some into wearable art, incorporating thread, yarn, string, rope, felt, leather, and even beads. Basket weaving is also a form of fiber art and artists might use such items as leaves, plant stems, grasses, and bark. Papermaking is another form of fiber art using organic materials as well as recycled papers and fabrics. Any of these works of art may be two or three-dimensional.
